Filipino and Mexican, made for the middle of the table.

Sisig, adobo cauliflower, quesadillas off the board and nachos worth arguing over — and a bar that keeps going after the kitchen quietens down.

The room

A dark room with plants in the rafters.

Mia Kusina sits in the middle of George Street behind a frontage that gives away very little. Inside: record sleeves pinned wall to wall, greenery and warm bulbs strung from the ceiling, a stone fireplace at the back, and a bar running the length of the room.

The kitchen cooks both halves of its name — Filipino food the owners grew up on, and the Mexican plates that go with a long night at the bar. Almost all of it is built to be passed around. Bring four people, or bring fourteen.
